Do I need this program?
To be honest, if you are a human living in this dirty world, it probably is a great fit! But did you know that there are common signs and symptoms of toxic overload such as headaches, brain fog, skin conditions and more? I have created a Toxicity Quiz so that you can assess the state of your body and need for a detox that includes medical history, symptoms and lifestyle factors to give you a good idea of where you stand!
Can I do this program if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
The food abundance goals in the 10 Day Detox do not promote any risk to pregnancy or breastfeeding and in fact provides a nutrient-dense diet that would support healthy blood sugar balance. However, it is not appropriate to restrict calories when pregnant or breastfeeding and the supplement packs that are discussed within the protocol would NOT be considered safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How often should I do a detox?
I recommend a 10 day detox at least semi-annually or twice per year. If exposed to higher levels of toxins due to your job, such as working in a hair salon or chemical plant, or lifestyle, such as drinking alcohol daily or smoking, you may want to consider ramping up to quarterly.
Can I really have bacon?
Yes, as long as pasture-raised and uncured. This would be eliminated during days 7-8 when pulling out red meat and poultry.
Is chocolate allowed?
Yes chocolate is a great source of antioxidants to support your detox! Use cacao powder and nibs in recipes and dark chocolate bars at 70+% would be allowed if free of soy lecithin, cane sugar, additives, stevia etc. Eating Evolved makes a 100% cacao bar and also has options sweetened with coconut sugar.
Do I seriously have to give up coffee?
Ideally yes for days 3-8, but if it is just not going to happen and you can follow the rest of the detox to a tee, you will still get benefits! Just try to cut back to 1 cup daily or go to half-caff during the detox.
