Banana Bolt Smoothie

Banana Bolt Smoothie

FOOD AS MEDICINE:

This recipe is inspired by a “fancy” coffee drink Brady and I used to get back in the day and while it is a little high carb for my intake nowadays it is still a welcomed treat for a carb cycle day and often a recommendation for those transitioning to a real food lifestyle! Plus it is WAY lower in carbs and calories than a frappucino and contains all real food ingredients that you can pronounce, so a total win-win. We talked about this recipe in Episodes 202 and 203 of the Naturally Nourished Podcast as a fantastic option for teens and tweens to replace energy drinks that can often have scary additives and support energy, cognition and focus while providing their bodies a balance of carbs with healthy fat and protein.

INGREDIENTS:

6 oz cold brew coffee

2 oz full fat coconut milk

1/2 banana

1 date (optional)

1 scoop Grassfed Whey Protein

Ice, for serving

DIRECTIONS:

Blend cold brew, coconut milk, banana and date if using in a blender on medium high until fully incorporated. Add grassfed whey at end of blending and blend 10-15 seconds, just until incorporated. Pour over ice to serve.
