Overnight Protein Oats

Overnight Protein Oats

I used to make overnight oats as a daily staple back in my early dietitian days. I kind of retired the concept when I started doing more of a keto approach but as the new school year approached and we started troubleshooting quick protein-packed breakfast options I wanted to make something a bit more interested than greek yogurt boosted with my Whey Protect.

This recipe provides soluble fiber and probiotics to aid in gut health and bowel regularity. Although not a lot of volume we are able to pack in 40+ grams of protein and it tends to hold over the appetite well. This recipe can be make in batches of multiple jars at a time and it is good for 4 days in the fridge.

Ingredients:
1/3-2/3 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or coconut milk)
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 scoop Whey Protect
3-4 Tbsp old-fashioned rolled oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/4 cup berries
Flavor: 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup or honey, a pinch of salt, and/or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ball jar with lid

First stir the milk, yogurt, and protein or put lid on jar and shake to combine, then add oats, chia seeds, berries, and flavor adds as desired. Shake jar to combine and place in fridge overnight. Enjoy chilled out of the fridge and add a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired!
