You Glow Girl Rooibos Hibiscus Jello

You Glow Girl Rooibos Hibiscus Jello

FOOD AS MEDICINE:

My You Glow Girl tea is my favorite tart treat. I love sipping it chilled in a wine glass after a long day as the rooibos and hibiscus can aid in regulating cortisol, supporting melatonin, and boosting antioxidant status. This is a go-to at all times but as a refreshing beverage a bit hit in the summer. As I was doing my last protein sparing modified fast I just wanted to chew something in the evening one night when facing a craving and the chilled tea or warm bone broth weren't cutting it.

You Glow Girl Jello is the perfect midday or end of day treat providing gut and nervous system supporting glycine as a rich amino acid in gelatin. This jello is a great boost of collagen and gut supporting gelatin to aid in connective tissue health and reduce joint pain while promoting health skin, hair, and nails.

I am now recommending this recipe in my Beat the Bloat cleanse too as gelatin's main claim to fame is the ability to line the gut and reduce inflammation caused by inflammatory foods, toxins, or gut infections. Gelatin has mucilaginous (aka “oopy-goopy”) compounds that reline the gut essentially servings as a “face-lift” for the GI tract!

Beyond these benefits there is some compelling research that it may reduce cellulite and boost weight loss! With all these benefits, break out the Gelatin (Grassfed sources not your standard confined animal farm sourcing found in Jello or Knox) and get in the kitchen!

INGREDIENTS:

4 cups You Glow Girl tea (1 tsp tea per 8oz water)

Juice of 1.5 limes

2 Tablespoons Gelatin, use ALIMILLERRD to save on Further Food

2-3 tsp raw unfiltered honey

DIRECTIONS:

If you are brewing your tea, bring water up to 212 degrees F and steep for 4-5 minutes. I brew this tea by the pot and always have it chilled in my fridge! If using chilled tea then execute as written below, but if you are using hot tea then make slurry with chilled water.

Set aside 1/4 cup of the chilled tea in a small bowl and add gelatin. Mix until combined into a slurry. Bring the remaining tea to a simmer on the stovetop. Juice the limes and add to the simmering tea along with honey as desired. Then cut the heat on the stove and add the gelatin slurry to the pot. Whisk to combine well.

Then pour the mixture into a 9x13 glass or ceramic dish. Place in fridge for at least 4 hours or until set. Serve as 2/3-3/4 portions for a tart refreshing gut healing treat!
